![]() ![]() This argument keeps coming up from people as though someone is saying the chips are all that matter. ![]() Who insinuated anything else? I am aware I cannot take a single adc chip and throw it at a guitar and get a recording. Saying there is more to an interface is redundant. Conversion chips that were used in 15 year old audio interfaces are still being manufactured. Audio opamps that were around in the 1970s are still being manufactured. The chips used on a specific device will always be the same. Matt SNothing you wrote there makes sense. The 'quality' of any interface goes far beyond the choice of chipset and it is the design of all the other factors that determine what can be achieved. With the insistence of some 'high end' interface manufacturers to cram so much into (typically) 1U boxes that get damn hot, their audio quality will be falling due to 'roasted' components within a couple of years use anyway. It would not really influence the audio interface market as it is too segmented and despite the grandeur of the 'pro audio' market it is only a tiny drop in the sales of A/D D/A chips. In the 7 years this thread has been running probably all the 'original' chips will have been discontinued. ![]()
